Update: Purchased this in November 2009. As of September 2011, the speakers crackle. We have very rarely exceed a moderate volume (10-14) the whole two years, even though we do tend to leave it on most of the day each day. Still, I expect speakers to last about 7 years on average, especially when used at a moderate volume.
