Removing the drive pushes people to adopt new technologies like the cloud, movie streaming, online music purchases. Apple is invested in these technologies, so it makes sense for them to nudge their users in that direction from a profitability standpoint. Yes, some people still use their optical drives, but that's they have not had experience with newer technologies. Without the optical drive, they have no choice but to move on and experience these.

Most people get Windows installed on a system. They don't see how much it costs. It could represent 90% of the price (obviously an exaggeration) and they wouldn't know. But it would still mean that they are spending more if the price increases. I'm a little tired of hearing the "don't buy it if you don't like it" argument. That may be an option for most of us here, but not for the majority of computer users, including businesses.
This works great!! I received it yesterday and have already used it to cut 5 sims. One thing that I do not like are the sim adapters; I am not sure if it was just mine, but the build quality was just not good. There were ragged edges on both of them and I wouldnt trust putting it into a device. Didn't really matter for me but if its an accessory you will need it's something to think about.
The USB cable arrived in an ordinary manilla envelope with no detail about the sender, nor an invoice or returns address which I found concerning.However, it works and does what is says on the tin.All I wanted was a backup cable to sync my adapter adapter macbookbook nano, without having to pay £15-20 for an Apple original.
