I agree that the box is a horrible test subject. dpreview's (for one example) shots of a grey patch, and then multiple crops of a high detail image are excellent for showing the level of noise AND detail that exist at each ISO setting. The box only gives you the level of noise, which is only half the story.

I bought three of them and one was jacked up from the get go (micrphone does not work). The sound quality is horribble. It does not work well for driving. This thing is a magnet for background noise. Save yourself some trouble and spend a few bucks more for a better one.
These speakers are ideal for low volume playing. Don't try blasting your tunes especialy if its got alot of bass. All in all it a decent set of speakers for the money. Its got a wide range of highs and lows.
