After looking at my son's laptop in use and feeling the tabletop, I was thinking of building somethiing which lifts the laptop off the table surface and at an angle for ease of use. Looking in amazon.com, I found the perfect item I was considering building. Even w/o using the fans, it is substansially cooler beneath the laptop. Heat is one of the key factors which shortens pc life, so anyway to ease the heat problem helps. My son uses it it always now.

Although compact it is poorly designed compared to the earlier version which has retractable prongs. In one trip the prongs punctured two plastic food bags in my luggage. Silly design if not an oversight.
