I use this device for 2 different stereo systems. My iphone charges and no sanding was required even while using an otterbox defender series case. The trick is to connect it evenly. After the initial push, use your thumb on one end of the phone, and your index and second finger on the extender cable to further push the adapter in. It is tight, but it does fit.
